On Saturday, April 12, in celebration of Earth Day, the Orange County 4-H Green Minds, Bright Futures Program will host a free interactive event for both 4-H members and non-members. The program will be held at Education Center Camp, 4-H Park, Otisville.
Participants will engage in solar energy experiments with geologist Kenneth Daubert, learn how solar panels generate electricity, and discuss the importance of renewable energy in combating climate change. In addition, participants will engage in geological activities such as rock and mineral identification, understanding erosion, and learning about the geological history of our area.
“Earth Day is a perfect opportunity to engage youth in science-based learning that connects them with the environment,” said Kat Leo, STEM educator for Orange County 4-H. “By exploring solar energy and geology, young people gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the importance of sustainable solutions.”
This program is open to youth of all ages and their families. For more information or to register for the program, visit https://cceorangecounty.org/4-h-youth/4-h-upcoming-events and click on the flyer to register.
