Susan Bahren runs for Orange County Legislature to represent Chester

I am a life-long resident of the Town of Chester. My career in Government started in 1984 as Administrative Assistant to the Sheriff.

In 1988 I was appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Elections, and in 1992 was appointed as Commissioner of Elections. I retired in 2018.

I served as Chester Village Trustee and Mayor of the Village of Chester.

I am familiar with the workings of both the Town and County Governments.

As a 32-year member of the Kiwanis Club of Chester, I’ve lead dozens of projects. I have also served as President and Lt. Gov for Club. I am a member of the Chester Historical Society serving as their Treasurer.

My career as Commissioner of the Board of Elections for Orange County allowed me to do what I do best: to work in a bi-partisan manner assisting both Democratic and Republican candidates for many offices. This enabled me to continue to work with all Legislators in a cooperative manner.

There are many critical issues throughout our County including fair-market housing, equitable income, infrastructure - including development and traffic issues - keeping Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center county-owned and providing a greater over-sight of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency (IDA). Development continually brings additional traffic and more required upgrading of our roads

It is important to promote and secure evening meetings of the County Legislature to ensure that the public can attend evening County meetings.
