Skoufis reacts to Governor Hochul’s First State of the State Address

Today’s address by Governor Hochul put forth an optimistic view of New York’s future, and I’m excited to get to work. While I look forward to her full budget proposal later this month, I am eager to strongly support a number of proposals, including the acceleration of the middle-class income tax cuts, a $3,000 retention bonus for our healthcare and direct care workers, an unprecedented property tax cut, and relief for small businesses.

Efforts to increase educational opportunities for those in the workforce, such as extending TAP to part-time students and offering childcare at all state colleges, would also signal a positive shift in our investment in training and education.

I look forward to supporting the Governor in her efforts to achieve the ‘New York Dream’ and welcome collaboration between her office and the legislature in the months ahead.
