Is the opening of American schools in September a safe thing to do?
At the moment, no, it is not.
What these silly politicians fail to realize is that, sure, a child’s chance of dying is far less than an adult’s.
But many of those children will be exposed to the virus, and they will come home and expose their parents, siblings and grandparents. More than a few of whom will die, not to mention some of the children themselves.
And is it fair to put the lives of their teachers at risk?
Is it realistic to expect these kids to come home and be isolated from their moms and dads?
If this catastrophic pandemic has not improved by September or - Heaven forbid - if it’s worse, opening up the schools will be an act of unprecedented irresponsibility.
What is presently happening to our once great nation is that the American people are in the process of relearning a lesson they should have learned a century-and-a quarter ago during the administration of Benjamin Harrison.
Here’s the lesson, boys and girls: Right wing form of governance does-not-work. Period.
It never has. It never will.
So you can imagine my dismay on the morning after the election four years ago to find out we had decided to go down this idiotic road again.
The one and only positive development of the age of Donald Trump will be that conservatism as a viable political force is about to disappear from America forever.
It used to be amusing living in Idiot Nation. The amusement faded a long time ago. Now it’s too depressing to articulate.
