Bloomfield helped get us clean water
To the Editor: I have known Doug Bloomfield from our childhood days growing up in the Village of Goshen. Doug has always been a serious, honest, caring, intelligent person who researches every issue and problem before making a decision. As town supervisor Doug has taken a business approach to the operation of our town. He has maintained services while adopting a pay-as-you-go policy. We are now on the right financial track with a preliminary budget with no increase in taxes. There are many important issues affecting our town’s future. I am confident that Doug has the experience and understanding to make the decisions that are in the best interests of all the citizens of Goshen. I am a resident of the Scotchtown Park Development in the Town of Goshen. In January 2006 our privately owned water system was neglected and was being abandoned by its owner. At the same time, the county health department ruled the water unsafe for consumption. We, the residents, asked Supervisor Bloomfield and the town board for help. The board adopted a proposal to take over operation of our water system under emergency conditions. Within five days our water was safe to drink. Doug then did an evaluation of the water system and a proposal for a water district operated by the town at a realistic cost to the residents. We are now water district 4. Thank you, Doug, for being concerned. I urge the voters to re-elect Supervisor Doug Bloomfield and Councilmen Lou Cappella and Phil Canterino. It’s the right thing to do. Jim Felczak Goshen
