Wallkill man arrested on weapons, reckless endangerment charges
Wallkill. The man allegedly discharged his weapon as well.
On Friday, August 16, at around 3:15 p.m., Wallkill town police officers responded to a report of a “man with a gun” in the area of 41 Putters Way. According to the police report, once officers arrived, they found the suspect and described him as being armed with several firearms. The suspect was identified as William McGillicuddy, 32, of Wallkill.
After officers took McGillicuddy into custody, they discovered that, prior to their arrival, he had allegedly shot at least one round from a firearm. A search of the residence at 41 Putters Way, with the assistance of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group and the New York State Police, did not find any victims or additional suspects.
McGillicuddy is charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree for allegedly possessing a loaded handgun and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing with the assistance of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, FBI Safe Streets Task Force, and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
