— The Town of Chester has added two part-time officers, Bruce Chambers and Laura Gannon, to its police department.
Chambers, who lives in Wurtsboro with his wife, Jamie, and son, Landon, has been a full-time police officer for the past 12 years with the New York State University Police.
Gannon is the daughter of two retired police officers. She earned an associates degree from Rockland Community College and graduated from the Rockland County Police Academy in December 2015. Her favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Yankees. She's currently working as a part-time police officer for the Town of Wallkill, with one year's service under her belt.
The two new officers were sworn-in by Town Clerk Linda Zappala at the town board's June 28 meeting.
Also at the meeting, Arlene Rittenhouse was appointed full-time court clerk effective July 1. Supervisor Alex Jamieson said 80 percent employment is considered full-time employment with the Town of Chester.
Rittenhouse was hired as part-time deputy court clerk in April 2015.
