TLC’S 'Bakery Boss' comes to town

SUGAR LOAF — Laura's Sweets is getting a hand from the Cake Boss.
Buddy Valastro, celebrity baker on TLC's Cake Boss, has a new series, "Bakery Boss." Valastro is taking his expertise on the road and across the county to help family-run bakeries. Laura's Sweets, in Sugar Loaf, will be featured on the "Bakery Boss" on Monday, Jan. 27 at 10 p.m.
After an extensive interview process, Sugar Loaf's very own all natural specialty bakery was chosen for its own episode of "Bakery Boss."
Owners Laura Vreeland and Maria Malara opened Laura's Sweets on Feb. 11, 2011. Laura's Sweets has pioneered the fondant cake explosion in the area and, for 10 years now, they continue to provide the highest quality baked goods paired with fine art available.
Laura’s Sweets is a boutique bakery offering a variety of sweets including cupcakes, French Macarons, hand-rolled truffles, butter cookies, creamery ice cream, fresh fruit and cream pies and everyday cakes. In addition, their wedding, specialty, 3D and one-of-a-kind cakes can be custom ordered for any occasion.
The crew started filming at the bakery the week of Sept. 30 and celebrated their grand re-opening on Oct. 4, 2013. The series premiered Dec. 2. Now friends, family, and fans in the community can anticipate the January debut airing of Laura's Sweets on national television.
Owners Vreeland and Malara said they feel blessed for this opportunity and are especially thrilled to share this journey with the community. And they are inviting everyone to stop in on the first Saturday of each month throughout 2014 to take a picture with Buddy’s signed chef coat worn during the taping of their episode and receive a 10 percent discount on any cake order placed at that time.
Catch the Laura's Sweets episode of "Bakery Boss" on Monday, Jan. 27, at 10 p.m. on TLC. And stop by the bakery Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is located at 62 Wood Road in Sugar Loaf.
