The Rev. Moore to be installed at First Presbyterian
CHESTER — The congregation of the First Presbyterian Church in Chester will celebrate the permanent installation of Pastor Erin Moore on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 4 p.m. at the church, located at 94-96 Main Street.
The congregation hopes members of the larger community will share in this celebration, which includes a reception in the church’s Fellowship Hall.
The Rev. Moore was installed as a temporary pastor in 2014, and the congregation voted to extend her contract as permanent pastor. There's a lot of excitement among the members of the church, who say they are very pleased with their pastor's service.
Dignitaries attending the service will include:
The Rev. Gavin Meek, Interim General Presbyter, will be giving the sermon, with a message pertaining to the installation.
The Rev. Susan De George, State Clerk of the Presbytery, will be giving the charge to the pastor (often encouraging and challenging words to uphold God's call serving this congregation).
The Rev. Peter Johnson, pastor of Denton Presbyterian Church, will be giving the charge to the congregation (this is similar to the charge to the pastor only directed towards the congregation - encouraging and challenging words to uphold God's call serving in their community and the wider world).
Also participating in the Administrative Commission from the Presbytery are:
Ruling Elder Kathy Dean (White Plains)
The Rev. Peter Surgenor (Moderator of the Hudson River Presbytery)
Ruling Elder Sue Varden (Goshen)
Ruling Elder Matthew Van Der Meulen (Chester)
The church would appreciate RSVPs at 469-4877 to make sure enough refreshments are provided.
