Sugar Loaf. Assemblyman to recognize first responders at Sept. 14 ceremony
The honorees for the second annual 99th Assembly District Salute to First Responders will be formally recognized by Assemblyman Colin Schmitt at a ceremony held Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center, 1351 Kings Highway, Sugar Loaf, at 6:30 pm.
Local leaders from each municipality in the 99th Assembly District were asked to nominate one first responder who has impacted their community through perseverance, courage, dedication to service and exemplary achievement.
The final list of honorees include:
Town of Blooming Grove: Salvatore Mancuso, posthumously
Village of South Blooming Grove: Isaac Ekstein
Village of Washingtonville: Brian Zaccaro
Town of Chester: Michael Dunlop
Village of Chester: Thomas Maslanka
Village of Cornwall-On-Hudson: Thomas Trainor
Village of Goshen: Oct. 30, 2019, Construction Worker Rescue Award accepted by David Collado, Roy Pettus and John Jonas Jr.
Town of Hamptonburgh: Mike Snyder
Town of Highlands and Village of Highland Falls: Christin Byrnes
Town of New Windsor: Steve Bedetti
Town of Stony Point: Erick Brissing
Town of Wawayanda: Joseph Alfonso
Town and Village of Woodbury: Anthony Maggio, posthumously
Firematic Honoree: William Morrice, South Blooming Grove FD
District-wide: Orange County Shields
“We owe our first responders an immeasurable debt of gratitude for their service and dedication to our communities,” Schmitt said in the press release detailing the awards. “These men and women have been willing to put everything on the line for us and their local communities have nominated them to be honored in our Assembly ceremony this year. All members of the community are invited to join me to recognize and honor our Salute to First Responder nominees.”
