Senator's office makes calls for Harness Estates mail delivery
Goshen. Sen. Metzger's communications director says the roads need to be dedicated by the village first. The roads need to be completed and the streetlights installed.
NYS Jen Metzger's office has been making calls since August to help the residents at Harness Estates get mail delivery.
Will O'Brien, who lives at the corner of Harness Road and Cahill, told The Chronicle last week that some residents haven't had mail delivery for more than six years.
The bottom line, said Lacey Seidman, Metzger's communications director, is that the developer needs to complete the roads before they can be offered to the village for dedication. The roads need to be completed and the streetlights installed. Mail delivery cannot start until the roads are dedicated, and the roads cannot be dedicated until the developers complete them.
A petition signed by 17 residents was presented to Metzger in August. Seidman confirmed that the petition was not passed on to the village. However, she said, a constituents' service staffer, Amy Myslik, called the mayor, Michael Nuzzolese; and Ted Lewis, the Village of Goshen's building inspector, code enforcement officer, zoning inspector, and fire inspector. Since Lewis is currently on medical leave, Myslik also contacted Art Tully, who is filling in.
Myslik also called Eric Friedlander, the builder and developer; Frank Jackson, the project manager; David Church, the Orange County Planning Commissioner; Susan Church, the U.S. Postmaster in Goshen; and Karin Hablow, the Orange County Department of Finance Commissioner.
Residents complained to village trustees at a recent meeting that going without mail service was an ongoing hardship. Making regular trips to the post office is a burden for the parents of young children, the homebound, and residents who work out of town during post office hours, they said.
