GOSHEN — With village budget preparations underway, now's the time for talk about sharing equipment and services, said Town of Goshen Supervisor Doug Bloomfield.
He said he met recently with Village Mayor Kyle Roddey. One project on the agenda is the old school building at the Salesian Park on Route 207 that’s in rundown condition. Village and town officials have met jointly in the past to discuss the fate of the brick building, which, besides being a public hazard, attracts break-ins. Officials agree that it must be torn down.
Taking down the building would be costly, which has stopped the town and village boards from moving forward. However, with joint meetings planned for the future, perhaps it will happen. Supervisor Bloomfield assigned Councilman George Lyons, board liaison for the Joint Recreation Commission, to meeting with village officials to work on a solution.
In a second joint project, the village and town want to work on beautifying the downtown business district and are applying for a grant together. Town Councilman Lou Cappella will represent the town in this effort.
