GHS teacher, assistant principal create protective masks for health providers
Goshen High School Technology Teacher Joe Fedor and Assistant Principal Kyle Roddey have a mission: to help keep health care workers safe as they battle COVID-19.
The pair have begun manufacturing personal protective equipment in the high school STEAM Lab that will be donated to local medical personnel.
The protective mask was designed by Fedor and is being manufactured using the high schools 3-D printers and laser cutters.
Fedor and Roddey are producing approximately 30 masks per day, although that number should climb now that they have fine-tuned the specs for the protective gear.
The 3-D printer builds the frames overnight and then a laser cutter is used to cut out the plastic shield, which is then attached to the frame.
“We appreciate all health providers who are working tirelessly during this pandemic," Roddey said, "and are excited to utilize our in-house equipment to help keep them safe while they’re on the front lines of this outbreak.”
