Friendly Visitor Volunteer training now available via Zoom
In response to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, Jewish Family Service is hosting Friendly Visitor Volunteer training via Zoom on Tuesday, July 28, at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 6, at 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m.
The program provides support to older adults and adults with disabilities throughout Orange County. For about three hours a week, volunteers provide local transportation to essential appointments, grocery shopping and friendly visits to those in their own communities.
The group partners with the following to provide that support: Orange County Office for the Aging, Town of Newburgh Friends of Seniors, Town of Blooming Grove Neighbors for Neighbors, Town of Montgomery Seniors Independence Project, Town of Warwick Friendly Visitor Program, Town of Woodbury Friendly Visitor Program, Town of Wallkill Friendly Visitor Program and Town of Crawford Friendly Visitor Program.
To become a Friendly Visitor Volunteer, register for the 90-minute Zoom training program. To register or to learn more about the program, call Paula Blumenau at 845-341-1173 ext. 305 or email her at pblumenau@jfsorange.org.
