Monroe. Chabad’s Challah and Babka Bake combine two traditional favorites
Babke and Challah was the delicious and traditional combination at a recent event at Chabad of Orange County’s new Chabad Center for Jewish Life.
The “Mega Challah & Babka Bake” was enjoyed by more than 150 women from across Orange County, joining together for an elegant evening of sisterhood and inspiration. Led by a team of babka and challah experts, participants made and shaped babkas and challahs from scratch.
Chana Burston, who co-directs Chabad of Orange County with husband Rabbi Pesach, welcomed the crowd and started off the evening with spiritual insights. The event keynote speaker, Chavi Bruk of Bozeman, Montana, shared how she and her husband, Rabbi Chaim, transformed grief of infertility challenges to a fulfilling journey of adopting five diverse children. Singer Chava Morgenstern of New City sang songs of peace and unity.
Burston explained the spiritual significance of separating a portion of dough and was joined by two families of three generations of Jewish women, representing the passing on of Jewish traditions from mother to daughter.
A sushi bar, salads and babkas and desserts were available. Guests were given swag of customized aprons and tote bags along with Shabbat candle-lighting kits to take home.
