Labor loves Legoland

GOSHEN — Legoland supporters attending a Dec. 12 rally urged one another to get out to the Dec. 15 public hearing to make their voices heard.
It was a Lego-friendly crowd at the Palacio Catering and Conference Center, with lots of union members, chamber members and local officials getting behind the proposed theme park.
Almost every speaker said the town board must hear positive comments about the proposal.
One speaker said that saying "No" to Legoland would turn Goshen into a "No" town for business into the future.
Another speaker stressed that Legoland is beyond the usual opportunity communities ever get a crack at, and that Goshen should move forward and prosper.
Locals 17 and 825 lobbied in force. One local's digital truck sat on a hill at the Palacio announcing its support.
Union workers cheered their enthusiasm.
Phil Royle, Legoland spokesman, said the project won’t be approved until February or March. Then, he said, they’ll be looking to recruit workers.
Debbie Walsh told The Chronicle there’s no major attraction around.
Legoland "will help the housing market and the job market," she said.
