Gregory Voloshin earns doctorate in educational leadership

GOSHEN — Gregory Voloshin, assistant principal and athletic director at Goshen Central School District since 2013, has received his Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, N.Y.
“I’m proud to congratulate Dr. Voloshin on this major achievement,” said Superintendent of Schools Daniel Connor. “He truly represents those characteristics we wish to instill in our Goshen students: a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence and personal drive.”
Previously, Voloshin worked as a social studies teacher and varsity diving coach at Monroe-Woodbury High School and varsity diving and lacrosse coach at Warwick Valley High School.
He graduated from Boston University, where he set two university records in Division I Diving. While attending Warwick Valley High School, he was named the State Diving Champion. He earned a master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the New York Institute of Technology, New York, N.Y., and a second master’s degree in physical education from Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. He also holds administrative certification from Long Island University, Brookville, N.Y.
Voloshin completed his dissertation on the “Differences in Organizational Commitment Between Male and Female Coaches,” focusing on high school athletics. The theme of his dissertation plays into his role as director of high school physical education and athletics.
"It's exciting to lead Goshen athletes, both male and female, at a time when participation in high school athletics is rising," said Voloshin. “We’re seeing increased participation and commitment among student athletes and more section and regional championships. I’m excited to be part of a program that stresses dedication, hard work and sportsmanship.”
Voloshin is married to Victoria Fleming, a 1998 graduate of Goshen High School, soccer all-star, and physical education teacher at Valley Central School District. They have two children.
Voloshin embraces a philosophy that continuing education and developing commitment and perseverance are essential for the 21 Century learner, and hopes to inspire students to pursue excellence in all they do.
