Goshen. Village Board to host public hearing Aug. 23 marijuana sale and use

The Village of Goshen will soon take up whether marijuana can be sold or consumed in the community.
The board of trustees has scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, on whether Goshen should opt out of the establishment of marijuana dispensaries or consumption sites in the village.
A new state law authorizes the businesses but gives but gives municipalities the option of deciding by by Dec. 31 to prohibit them within their borders.
The Town of Goshen has rejected the opt-out, but the Village of Chester has voted to bar the marijuana establishments.
