Goshen’s Lauren Luck to compete in Miss New York Teen pageant this weekend
Goshen. Lauren Luck, a junior from Goshen, N.Y., was crowned Miss Orange County Teen and is off to the statewide pageant competition in Westchester this weekend.
Lauren Luck, from Goshen was crowned Miss Orange County Teen and will compete in a three-day state competition Friday, Aug. 4, through Sunday, Aug 6.
Luck will compete against girls from across New York State at Purchase College. Each day’s competition makes up one third of the girls’ overall scores: Friday is an interview, Saturday is athleticwear, and Sunday is evening gowns.
Luck sees the pageant as an opportunity to serve as a positive role model to kids. She loves working with children and used to be a teacher’s aide at her former preschool, Thevenet Montessori in Highland Mills.
“I’ve always been interested in community service, especially surrounded by kids,” she said. “It’s just it’s always been something that I’ve enjoyed and I think that is really the next what step was.”
Luck started competing in the teen pageant last fall, and after successfully completing an interview process, competed in and won the county-level pageant this year.
Luck likes to paint and sing in her spare time. She’s an accomplished performer, and has sang in three operas, and can also play piano. Inspired by her father, an OBGYN Dr. Bernard Luck, she aspires to become a doctor one day.
During the school year, Luck attends St. Andrews, a boarding school in Middletown, Del., where she is a high honors student. She will be starting her junior year in the fall. Prior to attending St. Andrews, Luck went to Tuxedo Park School in Tuxedo.
