Goshen Plaza developer expects some stores to move in by the end of the year
Goshen. Negotiations to land a supermarket continue.
Building is ongoing at the site of the future Goshen Plaza shopping center, located on nearly 14 acres between Matthew Street and Clowes Avenue in the Village of Goshen.
In fact, Anthony Martinez, vice President of Fareri Associates Construction/Wescorp Builders, said according to the current schedule, CVS Pharmacy would be moving into its new site by the end of 2020. CVS will occupy a 14,698 square feet stand-alone building, located at the entrance of the new mall.
The main entrance to the more than 117,298 square feet of future prime retail space is from Matthews Street, with a secondary rear entrance from Clowes Avenue.
A separate two-way entry and egress winds around the rear of the mall to accommodate truck deliveries.
“Site construction is about 55 percent completed,” said Martinez.
He added that the second anchor, Garnet, a medical facility totaling 17,200 square feet, is well under construction at this time.
Three other stand-alone buildings are included in the site plan for retail space, as well as one larger structure that includes office space for Garnet medical facility, followed by three retail spaces, ending with a 37,000 square foot supermarket. Each of these spaces is constructed within its own walls and has its own services.
“Everything is new here, including all utilities (water and sewer), as well as mechanical systems, such as air conditioning, heating systems, electrical and plumbing systems,” said Martinez. “To finish it off, we’ll have a brand-new paved parking lot.”
As for the grocery store, Martinez said, “We’re still talking to potential tenants, and we are getting closer. Nothing is finalized, but we’re talking.”
Developer, Fareri Associates of Greenwich, Conn., assumed sole ownership of the site in May 2018 and had spoken publicly at a March 20, 2019, meeting, sponsored by the Goshen Chamber of Commerce, of its commitment to bring a modernized, updated shopping center to Goshen.
Fareri Associates is a successful developer and owners of numerous commercial real estate properties in Westchester and Fairfield Counties. It is instrumental in developing the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
Martinez is looking forward to having some stores move in by the end of 2020, with a full opening by the summer of 2021.
