The Goshen Chamber of Commerce announced this week that plans for the 2022 Great American Weekend are in the works for Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3.
Since 1982, the Great American Weekend has been a tradition that defines Goshen as a Great American Community, according to the chamber’s website.
“Originally intended to bolster attendance at the Historic Track after betting was eliminated,” the website continues. “The Great American Weekend offers activities for every member of the family and has grown into one of the county’s most prestigious events.”
Great American Weekend was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. That had a great impact on many programs benefiting the community. Revenue, generated by vendor fees, supports the programming provided to members and the community the Goshen Chamber serves throughout the year.
According to the chamber, 20,00 people a day stroll the nine-acre village surrounding the First Presbyterian Church. This two-day event offers more than 150 craft vendors, live music, food, children’s activities and a family friendly environment.
