There’s a new pizza restaurant on Main Street in Goshen and its great reputation has preceded it.
Sorrento’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, located at 15 Main Street, recently opened its doors for business, and the customers are lining up and placing orders.
Already established in Pearl River for 30 years, Sorrento’s is known to have “the best pizza in Rockland County.” Now, it’s here in Goshen.
Serving more than just pizza, the full Italian kitchen offers heroes, soups, salads, calzones, a full line of pasta entrees, including chicken, veal, pork and seafood dishes, and, of course, whole pizza pies — cheese and with toppings, and by the slice.
Why is Sorrento’s the “best” pizza?
“We have the best because the crust is made with bottled spring water, not tap water, the cheese is one-hundred percent Part Skim Grande mozzarella, and we use our 30-year-old secret sauce recipe,” said Rudolf Nuo, who, with Joseph Kapiti, are owners of Sorrento’s. “We use the finest ingredients.”
Nuo won’t reveal the ingredients that make the sauce so special. “It’s our secret recipe and it’s staying that way,” he said. However, he suggests that you come and sample the pizza, and you’ll know why it’s called the best.
Nuo has lived in Goshen for the past 10 years and he’s an experienced chef.
Kapiti is following in the footsteps of his father, Luigi, who opened Sorrento’s in Pearl River.
“I’m keeping up with tradition and doing the right thing for Goshen as my father did in Pearl River," said Kapiti. "We’re providing quality food in Goshen as he did in Pearl River.” Sorrento's is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dining space is available.
