Chris Gurda appointed Goshen trustee to fill vacancy
GOSHEN — Chris Gurda, newcomer to the political scene, has been named Goshen Village trustee to fill the vacancy left by former trustee Rory Brady, who in March was elected village justice.
Gurda grew up in Orange County and has lived in the village for the last three years. He spent most of his growing up years, before he went to college, in the Town of Goshen.
Although he’s never served on a municipal board, Gurda sits on the boards of the Orange County Agriculture Society and the Ferguson and Noon Foundation in Warwick.
Mayor Kyle Roddey said that after going over the backgrounds of candidates and interviewing them, he was impressed with Gurda.
“He represents the people coming back to the village,” said Roddey. "We want people to know that we’re inclusive and welcoming to new perspectives. It’s a good thing. Chris will challenge us with his new ideas."
Gurda is an attorney whose office is located on Dolson Avenue in Middletown. He lives in the village with his wife, Jill Gurda, and their three children, Christopher Jr., 4, Cynthia, 3, and Sinclair, 3 months.
