Chester. Kiwanis Club prepares ‘Welcome to Kindergarten’ backpacks

Members of the Kiwanis Club of Chester Community Outreach Committee - Cindy O’Connor, Sandra Nagler and Sue Bahren - met on Sunday, Aug. 23, to assemble the club’s yearly “Welcome to Kindergarten” backpack bags.
These backpack bags will be presented to the 50+ kindergarten students starting school at Chester Elementary next month.
Outreach Committee members said they believe it was very important to present these bags, as they have done in years past, especially when there is so much to be dealt with at school this year because of the pandemic.
New this year, the club provided masks for each of the students as well. The masks are attached to lanyards that students can just release from their faces when necessary so that the mask won’t be lost or fall on the floor.
