Chester. Girl scouts from Troop 241, 250 boxes of cookies and a gift for people who deserve some happiness
Earlier this week, Nicole Mann, a Brownie Girl Scout leader for Troop 241 Chester, sent an email to The Chronicle with some photos about the troop’s first Girl Scout cookie sales outside of ShopRite in Chester last Saturday, April 10.
Let Nicole pick up the story:
”About an hour or so into our booth sale we had a gentleman come up and offer to buy everything we had left so long as the girls delivered it to Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen. He said the residents had been cooped up for so long and deserved some happiness.”
“His name was William Kelly and he is a resident of Goshen,” the scout leader added. “He ended up donating $1446.00 worth of cookies which was over 250 boxes to the nursing home residents.”
Now, more than 250 boxes of cookies is a lot of dough, literally and figuratively. The 2021 lineup included favorites like Thin Mints, Lemonades, Trefoils (Shortbreads), Caramel deLites (Samoas), Do-si-dos (Peanut Butter Sandwich), Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties), Caramel Chocolate Chip, Toffee-tastic and Girl Scout S’mores.
“I’ve posted this on a few local Facebook groups because it is one of the most touching acts of kindness I’ve ever seen as a leader,” Nicole said, “and it was such a great experience for the girls to be a part of.”
