A great day for reading in New York

GOSHEN — Students from the Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School and C.J. Hooker Middle School participated in the Great New York ReadAloud at Orange-Ulster BOCES in April.

Libraries and schools throughout New York State have sponsored Read Alouds during National Library Week and School Library Media Month for the past 23 years.

Students from Joanne Karchawer’s second_grade class, "Gotta Keep Reading," by Nicole Nasrallah and Janet Bergh: Emily Dong, Gavin Duggan, Victoria Jakakas, Aalijah Knight, Gabrielle Lamparillo, Mykayla Lavery, Molly Mannes, Alex Mistretta, Kayla Schramm, Jack Vanchieri.

Students from Valerie Cassel second-grade class, along with music teacher Betty Olivo: "The Three Billy Goats Gruff," a Norwegian fairytale: Kiara Cubillo, Sadeel Hasan, Maria Kelly, Julianna McGovern, Connor McPhee, Jalissa Ocasio, Jason Orzell, Daniel Rudolph, Lily Thompson, Anthony Troiano, Griffin Van Cott, Eli Wiener.

Students from Cheryl Winship’s second-grade class: "How Chipmunk Got His Stripes," by Joseph and James Bruchac: Marcella Barnhorst, Carissa Bayack, Isabelle L. Charleston O’Brien, Emily Corino, Max Lederman, Liam Thornton.
