13 named September Students of the Month at C.J. Hooker Middle School
GOSHEN — Thirteen C.J. Hooker Middle School students were recently named the school’s September Students of the Month.
The selected students, along with the nominating teachers' comments, are included below.
Grade 6 Halle Firman has made a great adjustment at CJH. She comes to every class on time and prepared to learn. Halle is a very polite and kind young lady. She is always willing to help her classmates.
Katie Kelly has displayed excellent academic focus and effort. She is a wonderful young adult. Katie is an extremely responsible student. She is always kind toward others.
Judith Perez is a kind, caring and hardworking student. She is always on time for class and ready to learn. She advocates for herself, thanks her teachers for helping her learn new material, and tells her teachers to “have a good day” at the end of each class.
Juan Santos has made a great transition to the middle school. Not only is he a responsible student, he is respectful and kind to both his peers and adults. He has a ready smile and greeting each day. He is appreciative when people help him, and doesn’t hesitate to come to the aid of others.
Special areas: Olivia Gawronski is a very hard worker. From the beginning of the year she has been motivated and attentive. She often asks thought provoking questions and provides clear and concise answers during class. She is quick to offer a hand with others and provides useful feedback during class critiques. It is a joy to have her in class.
Grade 7 Kaitlyn Allen has gotten her seventh- grade year off to a great start. Kaitlyn is on-time to and consistently prepared for class. She is always ready to work independently or with her peers. She is genuinely polite to both peers and her teachers. Kaitlyn’s easy-going nature makes solving problems seem effortless.
Julia Memmelar’s responsible and considerate nature has shone through from the first day of school. Julia always displays a positive attitude and sincere kindness to peers and teachers alike. She is organized and hard-working and has already had a great start to seventh-grade.
Katelyn Smyth has shown that she is ready for this school year by her outstanding participation in class. Her thoughtful responses are a great example of how she is jumping full speed ahead into seventh-grade.
Special areas: Ryan Andryuk has shown great talent in technology. He recently set the new Airplane record with a grade of 202. He is respectful and always come to class with a positive attitude. He is very deserving of this recognition.
Grade 8
Peyton Andryshak is off to a great start in eighth-grade. She is a responsible student who comes to class with a positive attitude and a desire to learn. She contributes to class discussions and is committed to being a successful student. Peyton is kind and respectful to both her teachers and her classmates.
Colin Ahearn is a kind and thoughtful young man and a great role model. He is always prepared for class and ready to learn. His positive attitude and his respectful nature toward his teachers and peers is what makes him a great candidate for student of the month.
Ana Loter is an excellent addition to all of her classes. She is a highly conscientious student who is always well prepared. Ana is interested in understanding each subject and the world around her in deeper more meaningful ways. She is sincere, tenacious, and consistently looks for ways to improve. Ana demonstrates a positive attitude and brightens up the day with her infectious smile.
Special areas: Christopher Whitney has really excelled this year. His participation is phenomenal. He is often one of the first students to raise his hand during class to offer feedback, answer questions or ask thoughtful questions of his own. His inquires has helped him to improve greatly in the art he creates. He is often found offering ideas and help to his peers. He has really taken the feedback have given to him and applied it to the work he has created so far. He is a great student to have in the class.
