Goshen girls win school's highest academic honors
GOSHEN Two girls from Goshen have been recognized for their hard work and talent at the year-end ceremonies at the Tuxedo Park School. Emma Zahren-Newman finished the freshman year at Tuxedo Park School with both academic and high effort honors for the year. At Class Day, she was awarded the Margaret Smith Award for exhibiting excellence in creative writing. Zahren-Newman also received the Drama Award for her efforts as Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” this spring. Fiona Duffy, drama teacher at Tuxedo Park School, remarked that her “good attitude, diligence, dedication, intelligence and kindness, she was the perfect role model for our group. She never missed a rehearsal, even when sick, never complained or objected to any directions, learned her lines ahead of time, assisted with choreography, helped with directing decisions and all with outstanding grace.” Margaret Conley graduated from Tuxedo Park School’s eighth grade with high academic and high effort honors for the year. At Class Day Conley was awarded the Latin Award and the Vocal Music Award, and at graduation she was awarded the Scholarship Plaque for the highest scholarship in the school for the year. Conley gave the “valete” speech at graduation and was chosen by Headmaster Jim Burger to receive the Headmaster’s Cup “for sustained effort during the school year in studies and outside activities.”
