Gawronski named college vice president

MIDDLETOWN - Chester resident Michael Gawronski has been named academic vice president for health professions programs at SUNY Orange. Gawronski was recently an assistant professor and clinical education coordinator for the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Mercy College, At the college, he will oversee the administration of SUNY Orange’s health professions division (athletics, dental hygiene, diagnostic imaging, medical laboratory technology, movement science, nursing, occupational therapy assistant and physical therapy assistant). Gawronski, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in occupational therapy from D’Youville College in Buffalo. At Mercy College, Gawronski taught a wide array of occupational therapy courses, coordinated all clinical fieldwork experiences for students and served as assistant director of the OTA program. As clinical education coordinator, he developed and maintained clinical affiliation contracts with more than 200 healthcare facilities throughout the metropolitan New York area. Gawronski also provided comprehensive occupational therapy and rehabilitation technology services to individuals at Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Hospital in West Haverstraw from 1997 through 2005. Since February, he has provided occupational therapy consulting services at YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities, a New York adult day program in Tarrytown. In 2001, he founded Infinite Accessibility, LLC, Orange County’s first home modification remodeling company, offering occupational therapy consulting services to clients in school and community settings.
