Chester supervisor candidate Robert Valentine

Chester. Incumbent candidate for town supervisor (Rep/Con).

| 18 Oct 2019 | 05:57

The most important issue at hand is the ongoing, underhanded and frivolous legal battles being waged against the Town of Chester.

As your current town supervisor, and if re-elected, I will fight for Chester's residents. I will not back down from legal battles aimed at circumventing our laws and our codes to change our quality of life.

The second most important issue is fiscal responsibility and the challenges of providing a balanced budget for our residents. In the six years I have been on the town board, spending has never gone over the state-implemented cap. This has been accomplished by careful scrutiny of our contracts, responsible purchasing, and long-term bonding to offset major expenses. My business management experience have given me the tools I need to get the job done.

The third item and maybe the most important in a different respect is that I feel that accountability to our residents, access for our residents, transparency in our work, and actions to the residents are paramount to life in public service. As an elected official entrusted with the duty to serve our residents, I must always understand that your concerns are just as valid as mine. I must take every point of view seriously and act accordingly.

Vote Valentine Nov. 5.
