Allan Abbad of Allan’s Falafel 115 Main St. Chester, NY 10918 845-469-1714 Allansfalafel@gmail.com How did you get involved in the business? Food has always been my passion. I started working as a sous chef in Israel. After I came to the U.S. I had my catering business. My customers loved the food and were constantly inspiring me to open my own restaurant. So it finally happened! What do you do when you are not working? It’s hard to think about that. The restaurant has been open for only few months and in this tough economic time we have to work extra hard to make sure we stay in business. For the past month I don’t recall having a day off. Other than that I like spending time with my family. Why do you think the paper should write about you? Our restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine, which bring diversity to the local area. We hear from a lot of customers how glad they are because they don’t have to drive all the way to the city to have this kind of food. Our food is prepared freshly every day on premises without any preservatives, low on fat. We think people deserve to know about healthy choices that they have. Mark Scott of The Copper Bottom is celebrating the restaurant’s four-year anniversary and the introduction of live music every Wednesday beginning at 7 p.m., every Friday beginning at 9 p.m. and late night karaoke every Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. 62 North Main St. Florida, NY 845-651-5700 info@thecopperbottom.com What is your favorite part of being in business? There is nothing like being your own boss. Funny thing, I never wanted to work my head off. But when you have your own place, you don’t even consider it work - you do it because that is what you want to do - not because you have to do it! I love my job! What do you do when you are not working? Spend time with my three children: Cassie (12), Brandon (9) and Lauren (7). If I really get lucky, I even get the occasional date with my wife, Susan. If you were too big to fail and your business received money from the federal government, what would you do with it? Interesting question. If I am not mistaken, there are some corporations that were offered money from the government that really did not want it. I guess one thing for sure, I would certainly pay it back! Barry Chait of Bare Fitness announcing its three-year anniversary 31 St. John Street Goshen, NY 10924 845-294-5004 barry@barefitness.net www.barefitness.net How did you get involved in the business? I have been working out since I was 13. What is your favorite book or movie? Old Arnold movies! It was an inspiration for people to work out and take care of themselves. Made guys want to go to the gym and get big! Why do you think the paper should write about you? We as a society are so unfit and look to every other resource for a quick fix to health. There is no substitute for hard work. That is all it takes for a person to change their life. We supply the resources for people to achieve better health and decrease their risk of lifestyle diseases, obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and the new syndrome X. We can help you, and we need to change. This is the first generation projected not to outlive its parents. That needs to change! Parents need to get involved in their health and the future depends on it.
