Rudolph W. Ostrowski of Wantage, N.J., peacefully passed away on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at Barn Hill Care Center in Newton, N.J., while surrounded by his loving family. He was 95.
Born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., to the late Walter and Victoria (Romanik) Ostrowski, he had lived in Clifton, N.J., before moving to Sussex County in 1968. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 98th Reconnaissance Troop in the 98th Infantry Division. He was a real estate broker, owning and operating Glenn Realty in Clifton and Franklin, N.J., before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Jude The Apostle Church in Hamburg, N.J., a founding member and past-treasurer of the Polish Falcons, and a founding member of the Sussex-Wantage Wrestling Team.
He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Dolores J. (Gletow) Ostrowski; brother, Edward James; sisters, Mae Garwacki, Julia Kumor, and Mary Thomas; sons, Glenn and his wife, Marin,a of Denver, Colo., and Gregg and his wife, Lisa, of Branchville, N.J.; daughters, Linda J. Space and her husband, Eric, of Wantage, Lois J. Smith and her husband, Richard, of Goshen, N.Y., and Leigh A. Rogalo of Boonton Township, N.J.; grandchildren, Meghan Jaust and her husband, Thomas, Mandy Jaust and her husband, Matthew, Eric Space and his wife, Stephanie, Alexander and Victoria Smith, Jocelyn and Lucas Rogalo, Dmitry and Nikolai Ostrowski and Taylor Ostrowski; great-grandchildren, Timothy Space and Colton, Kirsten, Thomas, Greenlee and Darbee Jaust.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex, N.J. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Covenant House, 5 Penn Plaza, NY, NY 10001-1810 (attn: Sandy Latchman).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at St. Jude The Apostle Church in Hamburg. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
