Richard Wayne Nemeth of Warwick passed away at home on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old.
Born on April 15, 1943, in Rahway, N.J., he was the son of William “Bill” and Florence (nee Price) Nemeth.
He met his wife of 57 years, Sharon, in the first grade. Childhood sweethearts, they treasured their trips to New York City to attend musical performances, the theater and the ballet. They also enjoyed vacations down the Jersey Shore with their daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons.
Richard graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1961 and Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1965.
Before moving to Warwick in 2016, he spent most of his life in Woodbridge, N.J., where he owned his own business and was the managing partner of several real estate partnerships.
He was a lifelong lover of the Great American Songbook, especially the music of Frank “Chairman of the Board” Sinatra.
Richard was known for his intelligence and impeccable style.
He is survived by his wife Florence “Sharon” Nemeth of Warwick; daughter Lori Humphreys and her husband David of Milton, Mass.; sister June Pormilli and her husband James of Northampton, Pa.; and grandsons Jackson and Aidan Humphreys of Milton, Mass.
Memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. A Memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
