Marguerite Naomi (Delo) Hansen of Warwick passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020. She was 90 years old.
Born in Huntington and raised in Northport on Long Island, she was one of two daughters born to James and Marguerite (Murray) Delo.
Naomi, as friends and family called her, was a proud confidential secretary for the United States Postal Service in Melville as well as an incredible mother, grandmother and matriarch to her beloved family.
She was also an artist, ballroom dancer, fancy dresser and always the first to start a conversation.
Naomi made herself the head of the welcoming committee wherever she went. The queen of “small talk,” as she phrased it herself, made a point to remember something about each new person she met. Her friendliness and warm spirit left an impression on everyone she knew.
Naomi is survived by her children: Glenn Hansen and his wife Patricia of Fairfield, Conn., Scott Hansen and his wife Marianne of Warwick, Dawn Hansen and her husband Frank Lenihan of Seal Beach, California, and Gail Fennell and her husband, Kevin of Ridgefield, Conn.; grandchildren: John Peter, Meredith, James, Thomas John and Samantha Hansen and Abigail Fennell; and sister Joann Veit of Melville. She was predeceased by her son Todd Hansen and her ex-husband John Hansen.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. with a funeral service at 5 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick.
Interment will be private in Tappan Reformed Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
