Kris Jaroka died on July 23, 2020. She was 70 years old.
Born on April 21, 1950, Kris grew up in Washingtonville and lived most of her life in Orange County. She was a graduate of South Florida University with a degree in fine arts.
She was a collage artist of some renown locally. Her work was exhibited at West Point, the Karpeles Museum and SUNY Orange. In recent years, she especially enjoyed creating miniature collages for her family.
Kris was pre-deceased by her husband, Paul Jaroka; her father, Hank Werkman; her brother, Rik Werkman; and her cat, Annie.
She is survived by her mother, Rose Werkman of Monroe; her sister, Beth Quinn (Bob) of Goshen; nephews Sean Mullally of Massachusetts and Brendan Mullally of New Paltz; her good friend Monica Ostrow of Mount Hope; several great-nephews and a great-niece; and several cousins.
Cremation was private and under the direction of the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home in Washingtonville.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation at this time.
A celebration of Kris’s life will be held when it is safe for people to gather and remember Kris’s smile and good humor despite the many obstacles thrown in her path during her lifetime.
Kris’s family would like to extend special thanks to the health-care workers and staff at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center who took care of her with warmth and affection.
