Gary A. Winship

| 19 Mar 2021 | 03:20

Gary A. Winship, a lifelong resident of Sugar Loaf, entered into rest after a long courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born in Warwick on Jan. 13, 1959, to Charles A. Winship and Gertrude Walling Winship.

He graduated from Warwick Valley High school, where he played baseball and football. His competitive nature made watching Yankee and Giants games interesting.

Gary, along with his brother Kevin, owned and operated Warwick Valley Heating, Inc. for 33 years. He had many long-standing customers who referred to him as a friend.

He was a lifelong member of the Sugar Loaf Engine Company.

He was a nature lover and enjoyed being out in his yard, but nothing was more important to Gary then spending time with Anne Marie and grandson Michael. Under his grumpy disposition he had a true heart of gold.

People will remember Gary for the help he showed anyone in need.

Gary will be loved and missed and forever in our hearts.

He is survived by the love of his life Anne Marie McKevitt and sons, Matthew and wife Kara, Patrick and wife Cheryl, Timothy and girlfriend, Hana, and grandson Michael, who loved his “Grumpa.”

He is also survived by his loving mother, Gertrude Walling Winship of Goshen, his sister Gail Valetta and husband Joe, sister Christine Cypher and husband Bill, brother Kevin Winship and wife Cheryl, sister Dana Click and husband Wayne and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Charles Winship and brother Wayne Winship.

Visitation was held March 22 at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc., located at 3 Hudson St., Chester.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas & Brendan Flynn and the staff of Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Centers, Inc.
