Edmund V. Caplicki Jr. of Long Beach Island, N.J., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, after a nine year experience with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 76 years old.
Born in Hackensack, N.J., on Sept. 29, 1944, and raised in Goshen, N.Y., he lived in LaGrange, N.Y., before moving to South Jersey four years ago.
Ed received his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University, where he played soccer, and his law degree from Cornell Law School, where he was a member of the ROTC. He served in the U..S Army and in the New York Army National Guard for 28 years, retiring as a colonel.
He was general counsel to John Arborio, Inc. and Dutchess Quarry and Supply before going into private practice. And he served as Lagrange town justice for 38 years, a position he enjoyed immensely.
He was a former member of the Lagrange Lions Club, the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club, Dutchess Golf Club, past president of the Dutchess Magistrates Association and former president of the N.Y. Associated General Contractors.
Ed will be remembered for his quick wit and tales and his love of golf and Golden Retrievers.
He was predeceased by his parents Edmund V. and Pauline Caplicki and brother Alan Caplicki.
He is survived by Patricia, his wife of 52 years; sons Edmund V. Caplicki III “Evan” of Los Angeles, Califorina. and Justin M. Caplicki of Sydney, Australia; brothers Dennis Caplicki and wife Janet and Brian Caplicki and wife Ann; sister Darlene Stevens and husband Ron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
