Aileen R. Williams of Pearl River, and formerly of Goshen, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on May 11, 2020.
Aileen was born in Newark, N.J., on Sept. 12, 1925, to John and Marie Ryan. She was one of nine children and was the last to pass away at the age of 94.
After graduating high school, she met and married Ray Williams (deceased), who was born and raised on William Street in Goshen.
They had three children: Ray Williams of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Barbara (Richard, deceased) Kriz of Pearl River and Cape Cod, Mass. Her son, Kenny, was predeceased as a young child and also her grandson, Robert, was predeceased.
She is survived by her grandson Michael, wife Marina and son Torin of Palm Harbor, Fla. She also leaves a niece and nephews, Lorraine (Doug) Nyegaard, Mark (Colleen) Baird and Bobby (Lorraine) Hopkins.
Aileen had volunteered at St. Margaret’s Church in Pearl River for many years in addition to working in their Thrift Shop. She also spent many years volunteering at the Mustard Seed Migrant Ministry in Goshen, working with two dedicated nuns whose organization was to help the children of migrant workers while their parents worked in the fields.
Aileen was a friend to all animals. She fed any creature that came to her back door and there were many.
She also truly enjoyed her indoor feline friends, who gave her great comfort.
At a later date, due to the health crisis, the family will gather to distribute Aileen’s ashes per her wishes in her favorite places.
In the meantime, she is in Goshen, one of her favorite places, being cared for by the Donovan Funeral Home. Joe Donovan and family had been friends of the Williams family for many years.
