Doreen, we found your Christmas card
The Farm Warwick’s Lee Zinser checked his P.O. Box after traveling abroad for a few months. Sifting through junk mail, he found a red Christmas card addressed to Doreen Doty, from Darren and Laura, with $100 inside.
Zinser would like to get the gift back to Doty. If you know Doreen, please have her contact the paper, and we’ll help make it happen. Email comm.engage@strausnews.com or call 845-469-9000 ext. 325.
Locals support essential workers
There’s generosity everywhere you turn. These are just a few of the many acts of kindness we've seen lately.
• An anonymous donor sent 25 pizzas to the staff at the Chester, N.Y. ShopRite.
• Patty Cakes in Sparta, NJ has been packaging cookies and sending them with thank you notes to local healthcare workers.
• Empire Diner in Monroe, NY donated dinner to Orange Regional Medical Center’s employees.
Zoom sing-alongs
Teachers are working hard to make online learning fun. The West Class at Thevenet Montessori School in Highland Mills, NY has a Zoom sing-along every day for its students. The teachers sing (in Mandarin!) and play ukulele. The kids sing and dance along. They shared a video of last week’s “Head Shoulders Knees and Toes” sing-along with the paper—it made us smile.
Check it out by visiting “Smile of the Week” on our website (and maybe learn a little Mandarin while doing so).
