Dan Castricone named Orange County’s Risk Management Officer

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus has named Dan Castricone as the County’s Risk Management Officer.

Castricone’s first day as Risk Management Officer was Oct 7.

“We are very fortunate to have someone as talented as Dan to lead our Risk Management Office,” Neuhaus said in the press release announcing the selection. “Dan brings a diverse professional background and a wealth of experience to this position. He is enthusiastic about taking the helm of this important department and I look forward to the energy and new initiatives Dan will bring to the position.”

Castricone’s duties as Risk Management Officer will include developing and managing a system of self and fully-insured programs to meet the needs of Orange County and its employees. He will also administer and manage employee and retiree benefit programs, including health, dental and vision and the County’s Workers’ Compensation program.

In addition, Castricone will be responsible for reviewing and approving all insurance limits, monitoring trends and revising coverage as needed.

Prior to coming to Orange County government, Castricone, who is an attorney, was the president of Castricone Enterprises, Inc. in Nanuet from 1998 to 2016. The firm hired, trained and developed sales and support for financial services and equities brokerage firms.

Castricone worked for Allstate Insurance Company as a Market Business Consultant and an Agency Development Manager from 1999 to 2005, overseeing 25 agents.

Castricone served on the Orange County Legislature from 2009 to 2013 and was the chairman of the Personnel and Compensation Committee. He represented the Towns of Tuxedo, Warwick, Chester and Monroe.

Castricone, a Tuxedo resident, received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from SUNY Buffalo in 1987. He earned a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in 1997.
