Warwick. United Methodist Church mounts community concert on Sept. 17
The community is invited when United Methodist Church presents an afternoon of music at their concert, “From Sea to Shining Sea,” on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m. at 135 Forester Ave. in Warwick.
An entertaining afternoon is planned, with a performance of music that focus on the rich and shared heritage of the United States and Europe. The audience will delight in a diverse selection of military band marches, seafaring songs and familiar hymns.
This special musical presentation will be delivered by vocalist Dennis English, while local musicians Tim Getz with Gail Johnson providing accompaniment.
English is the choir director for Warwick United Methodist Church. He is a former music elementary/middle school/high school teacher and has also performed with such companies as The Light Opera of Manhattan and the Miami Opera.
Getz is an organist, pianist and worship leader at Warwick United Methodist Church. He has participated in various church and community musical projects throughout the Hudson Valley, most recently as accompanying programs for the Jewish Federation of Orange County and for the residents of Warwick’s Schervier Pavilion.
Johnson is a former elementary school music teacher and currently serves as organist and choir director at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown and the accompanist for the Warwick Valley Chorale. She also serves as secretary of the Greater Middletown Interfaith Council for local places of worship.
