Warren A. Angel Jr. of Monroe passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
Born on Jan. 24, 1927, in Rockville Centre on Long Island, he was the son of Warren Arthur Angel Sr. and Evangeline Ludlam Angel.
Warren served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Military Police Officer in Italy from 1945-1947. He left the Army with an honorable discharge.
Upon his return to the states, Warren married the love of his life, Jean Mae Jacobsen.
After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Hofstra University, Warren and Jean moved to the family home in Monroe, New York, in 1949.
Warren bought a bulldozer and went into the excavating business. To fill the winter days, he started building homes and eventually became a well-respected home builder in the area.
After retirement, Warren and Jean had a hobby of making whirligigs and wind toys and sold them at craft fairs in four states.
He continued his service as the president of the Monroe Lions Club in 1950. He was also a Freemason and a member of the American Legion.
Warren is survived by his sister, Merrillon Pinna; his children: Karen Boyd and her husband Kevin, Steven Angel and his wife Constance, and Julie Young and her husband Roger; his eight grandchildren: Katharine Ord, Kristine Filipowski, Steven Angel Jr., Jennifer Angel, Melissa Angel, Heather Young, Amy Duff and Crystal Young; and his three great-grandchildren: Luke Filipowski, Isabel Ord and Annabel Sapuppo.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 70 years, Jean Angel, and his two sisters Evangeline Meyers and Nancy Bloodgood.
A graveside service was held April 28 at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen.
